Lead Clinician Dr. Jeremy Alford, BA, MPHIL, PHD, Clinical Psychologist, with 20 years of mental health experience, working in multicultural settings with people from all around the world, has been offering an intensive evidence-based integrative Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) program to the treatment, management and recovery of various issues from burnout, to anxieties such as panic attacks, generalized anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, anger, depression such as bipolar disorders, cyclothymia, seasonal affective disorders, eating disorders, addictions and other challenges. Dr. Alford is also trained in clinical hypnotherapy, biofeedback therapy as well as has a specialization in the treatment of eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and other atypical eating disorders and is the President & Founder of MEEDA (Middle East Eating Disorders Association).

The Choices Retreats Program is a personalized intensive CBT program that incorporates mindfulness practices within a holistic framework. Initiated in Bali Indonesia at the end of 2014 when Dr Alford traveled from the Middle East to South East Asia, where he had been practicing for 11 years in private clinics and hospitals in search of a better quality of life as well as in search of an environment that would be less stigmatizing and more inviting for people who suffer from mental health to seek help and / or find hope and commitment to their recovery and healing. Our therapy program is carried at on the beautiful tropical grounds of the Desa Seni location in Berawa Canggu #13 Jalan Subak Sari. We take great pride is making this a unique and healing experience by working with one person at a time. Dr Alford chooses to work in this way to ensure both privacy and efficiency. After successfully offering this intensive CBT program for 4 years in Bali Indonesia, Dr Alford has also decided to include a second destination for clients to choose from in Cyprus (only available at specific summer times of the year in Europe).

The Choices Retreats Program is offered all year round and is suitable for anyone going through difficult life experiences, whether at work, or in their personal lives. Our evidence-based program adheres to the National Institute for health and Care Excellence guidelines in the UK (NICE). Studies have shown that the minimum recommended number of CBT sessions for the treatment, management and / or recovery of conditions such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders/depression as well as specific eating disorders like bulimia and binge eating disorders will range between 8 to more than 20 hours. Each person we see will be carefully evaluated before being accepted onto our program in order to make sure of their suitability.

What makes our intensive program successful is that we make sure to provide these recommended number of hours within a short time frame. What someone achieves in 8 days to 14 days is equivalent to work that would typically take anywhere between 3 or 6 months depending on severity to 1 year or much more, in a traditional therapy intervention where the person might be seen for therapy once a week.

Results so far have shown that going through the Choices Retreats Program led by Dr Alford in an intensive way as opposed to a weekly or monthly approach have provided clients with an opportunity to gain perspective, insight and learn evidence-based coping strategies much faster, hence allowing for quicker breakthroughs and recoveries with long-term benefits.
